On this page
Singapore has no defensible universal ranking of food and beverage distributors. The useful question is which current candidate fits the product category, import role and customer channel. This map was reviewed on 16 September 2026 and uses company-primary evidence. Inclusion does not mean that a company is accepting new principals.
How to read the candidate map
An importer or distributor may take title to goods and sell them onward. A foodservice supplier may focus on customer procurement and fulfilment. A logistics or catering operator may distribute products as part of a wider service. Retailers, manufacturers and brand owners have different roles. Confirm the contracting entity and the work it will actually perform.
Singapore Food Agency licences and registrations depend on the food category and activity. Use our Singapore food import regulations guide for the compliance path. This page focuses on commercial candidate fit. For retail account context, see the Singapore supermarket operator guide.
Singapore food distributor candidate map
| Candidate | Verified role and category | Relevant channels | Supplier-intake evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bidfood Singapore | Broadline foodservice supplier with more than 5,000 products across 14 disclosed categories | Professional kitchens and foodservice customers | Its contact form explicitly offers a procurement enquiry for suppliers looking for a Singapore distributor |
| Makoto-Ya | Importer, exporter and wholesaler of Japanese food, beverages, liquor and rice | Japanese-category wholesale and represented brands | Public site confirms represented brands; confirm whether the relevant subcategory is open |
| FoodXervices | B2B food distribution, consolidated procurement, warehousing and logistics | Restaurants, cafés, caterers, hawkers, central kitchens, institutions, manufacturers and retailers | Customer intake is explicit; new-principal intake is not established on the reviewed distribution page |
| Ban Choon Marketing | Fresh produce, organic grocery and plant-based category importer/distributor | Supermarkets, restaurants, caterers and wholesalers | Public portfolio shows carried brands and produce sources; confirm category availability and representation terms |
| SATS Food Solutions and Country Foods | Food production, commercial and institutional catering, foodservice solutions and distribution | Aviation, institutions, foodservice chains, restaurants and selected retail supply | Partnership and distribution capability is verified, but the reviewed pages do not offer a general open intake for overseas principals |
Bidfood Singapore
The current Angliss domain presents the business as Bidfood Singapore. Its range covers bakery, dairy, meat, seafood, produce, beverages, pantry and prepared foods. It is the clearest candidate here for supplier outreach because its contact form includes a procurement option for companies seeking a Singapore distributor. Category conflict, importer responsibility and commercial terms still require review.
Makoto-Ya
Makoto-Ya describes itself as an importer, exporter and wholesaler of Japanese food and beverage products in Singapore and Malaysia. Its public portfolio includes food, sake, beer and rice, with named represented brands. It is a category specialist rather than a general distributor for every origin or product type.
FoodXervices
FoodXervices describes a B2B foodservice supply business supported by consolidated procurement, warehousing and logistics. Its customer-facing distribution page is clear about professional-kitchen channels. A brand owner should ask whether FoodXervices will buy, import or represent the product, or only fulfil an existing customer requirement.
Ban Choon Marketing
Ban Choon focuses on fresh fruit and vegetables, organic groceries, plant-based products and dairy. It serves supermarkets, restaurants, caterers and wholesalers and offers retail pre-packing. NTC Wismettac Singapore acquired full ownership in 2022, which matters when confirming the contracting entity and category mandate.
SATS and Country Foods
SATS describes food production, catering and distribution across aviation, commercial and institutional channels. In February 2026, SATS identified Country Foods as the subsidiary operating a commercial supply chain from sourcing through distribution. This is a food-solutions and logistics route, not evidence that SATS acts as a general importer for every packaged brand.
Match the candidate to category and channel
Start with product temperature, shelf life, origin, alcohol status and customer channel. Bidfood and FoodXervices are oriented toward foodservice supply. Makoto-Ya has Japanese-category depth. Ban Choon is strongest in produce and adjacent natural categories. SATS and Country Foods fit large-scale food solutions and selected commercial supply chains. A retailer listing may require a separate importer or distributor.
Unverified supplier intake needs a direct check
A company website may invite customer orders without inviting new principals. Ask whether the candidate is reviewing new brands, who owns import registration, which customer accounts it serves directly, and whether it will fund inventory, sales and marketing. Do not infer intake from a catalogue or contact page unless the enquiry path states it.
Manufacturers, brand owners and retailers are separate
Food Empire is primarily a branded food and beverage manufacturer and marketer with its own portfolio and distribution network. That does not establish availability as a distributor for unrelated overseas brands. Nature’s Superfoods is presented publicly as a consumer brand and retail/wholesale seller; a third-party principal route needs direct evidence. Retail buyers belong in the separate supermarket comparison.
Diligence before appointing a partner
- Entity and licence: identify the legal importer, relevant SFA category and licensed premises.
- Category proof: request a current portfolio and evidence of comparable products.
- Channel proof: verify recent invoices or references in the target retail, foodservice or institutional channel.
- Operations: inspect storage, cold chain, traceability, recalls, expiry and returns.
- Commercial model: document title transfer, margins, credit, inventory, promotions and exclusivity.
- Launch ownership: agree who sells, merchandises, reports and funds the first year.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one biggest food distributor in Singapore?
No public dataset compares distributors on the same category, customer and revenue basis. SATS is a large food-solutions group, while Bidfood, FoodXervices, Makoto-Ya and Ban Choon serve different commercial roles. Fit is more useful than a universal size claim.
How do I sell food in Singapore?
Define the product’s import and licensing route, appoint the responsible entity, and then select the retail or foodservice channel. Use the import guide for compliance and this candidate map for commercial diligence.
